The Residential Service is for people aged 18 and above and is open all year. Vacancies may occur at any time because the Project does not need to operate on a college term basis. The Project’s aim is to help students achieve their greatest level of independence. In consultation with family and the funding agency  the Project is willing to be involved in identifying appropriate accommodation or other services when they are ready to move on.  It is therefore difficult to guarantee exactly when places will become available although it is possible to give an indication.

Normally the process for applications is as follows
  1. An informal visit - the applicant or other involved parties may then complete a referral form to request a trial visit.

  2. If appropriate a trial stay will be offered. This may  be for a period of up to 2 weeks. There is a charge for this.

  3. After the trial stay a comprehensive report is sent to all relevant parties. If appropriate a place will be offered together with an indication of fees.

  4. As soon as confirmation of funding is received the applicant’s name will be placed on the waiting list.

  5. All relevant parties are notified when a vacancy is likely to occur and a date is confirmed when this is known.

The Minstead Training Project operates throughout the year with one week breaks at Christmas and Easter. As much notice as possible of additional holiday requirements is appreciated.
The Project is committed to ensuring that all people with disabilities whether they are students, staff or visitors are treated fairly.  Reasonable adjustments are made to ensure that everyone can access all services.

Places may be funded by many agencies including Social Services or by Direct Payments.  Advice regarding funding may be obtained from Care Managers, Connexions advisors and Health Service officials.

Fees are spread over 52 weeks per year and invoiced by calendar month unless the Project has agreed to the provision of a special service.

Fees are reviewed as at 1st April each year.

Indications of fee levels are available on request.  Fees will only be confirmed after a trial stay has taken place and levels of support have been agreed.
